As the story of God’s faithful covenant to Abraham
continues to unfold, we now come to the longest chapter in all of
Genesis. Its focus will center upon the love story and marriage of
Isaac and Rebekah. While it may seem out of place at first reading,
marriage is a subject for which cannot be overemphasized. It is the
foundation for every family, and is thereby the most important
relationship in any culture. And God has set apart marriage as a
picture of His covenant-keeping nature as proclaimed in the
gospel.
