John 13:18-30 Throughout his writings in the
Scriptures, John prominently uses the analogies of light to
goodness and darkness to evil. Our current passage of study
reflects just such an instance. As the light of the world (John
8:12), Jesus has come to bring sinners out of spiritual darkness.
Yet, the means for this mission would only come by His suffering
upon the cross, unquestionably the darkest time in redemptive
history. As then, so now, these four truths deserve our
consideration - even when it is night.
