Genesis 33 On any given Sunday morning, two objects
in the Sanctuary exemplify the spiritual struggle so apparent. The
altar represents that place of complete surrender to God, a place
of trust and obedience. The exit represents that attitude of
defiance and delay toward God, an attitude that cherishes sin more
than the Savior. On most Sunday mornings, and on most mornings in
between, the residence for many is between these two extremes. This
struggle is evident in Jacob, even following his surrender to God.
We must make every effort to follow Christ in the midst of this
struggle.
