The phrase “burn the ships” has become synonymous

with the act of forsaking everything for one primary pursuit. In

our current passage of study, we find that Abraham is doing just

this. Even amidst his great grief and uncertainty regarding the

future, Abraham will place his full hope in the promises of God by

a resolute act. In the same manner, any who would follow Christ

must forsake everything else for His singular

pursuit.
