John 12:37-50 Through the first half of his Gospel,

John has presented clear evidence of the works and words regarding

Jesus' claim as Messiah. Before he gives that most important

account of the very reason for Jesus' coming (His sacrificial

atonement for sinners upon the cross), John provides a summary of

Christ, giving particular attention to the way people would respond

to the gospel. Since the message of Christ is matchless, we must be

careful to seriously consider whether or not we will

believe.
