John 12:1-11 The Gospel of John's twelfth chapter
is one of significant transition. Up until now, we have read of
several of Jesus' miracles, each declaring Him to be the Son of
God. From this point forward, Jesus' public ministry is coming to a
close as the preparation for His passion (persecution) begins. In
this Gospel account, Jesus is in the last week before the cross. It
is here that we read of an event so memorable that three of the
Gospel writers will record it. It serves to emphasize just why
Jesus has come and that faith in Him can be no less than full
surrender.
