As we come to the account of Isaac and his family,
we discover that his place in Scripture (compared to his father,
Abraham, and his son, Jacob) is relatively brief. However, as the
one through whom God’s covenant will continue to pass, the details
of his family provide great insight for our own lives. Though he
was the child of promise through whom the Messiah would eventually
come, his life was anything but a fairytale. Yet, through the
difficulties in his family, we are again reminded of the
faithfulness of God to us all.
