In all of the Old Testament, there is not a more

debated passage than the current text in our study. Yet, a key for

understanding this text (or for understanding the meaning and

application of any part of Scripture) is found in examining its

relation to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Since every part of

Scripture finds its ultimate fulfillment in Jesus Christ, the

message of His redemption informs even God's flooding of the earth

and the salvation of Noah. In the harrowing events of this passage,

we will find our ultimate need for and our only hope of salvation
