1 Corinthians 11:23-34 Since its very beginnings,
the Church has always been tempted to shirk a remembrance of the
cross. The cross of Christ is a constant reminder of our utter
sinfulness and the absolute failure of our own efforts. The cross
is offensive to a culture enamored with selfish ambition. The cross
is contemptuous to those who would glory in their own sin. Yet,
should the Church abandon the cross, we will spiral into spiritual
deficiency and lose all effectiveness for the cause of Christ. To
keep from such gross spiritual error, let us take the Lord's Supper
and look intently at the cross of Christ.
