John 1:1-5 Perhaps more familiar than any other
book of the Bible, John's Gospel gives us an eyewitness account of
the greatest life ever lived as confirmed by one with the most
reliable credentials. John, the Son of Zebedee, had access to Jesus
that few could equal. Yet, in transcribing Jesus' life, he made
clear his purpose to have his readers "believe that Jesus is the
Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in
His name" (John 20:31). To accomplish such an astounding goal, John
begins by providing no less than Jesus' very
distinctiveness.
